The General Assembly is the supreme organ of the Legal Aid Forum. It is formed of all members of the Legal Aid Forum.
The Ordinary General Assembly duties and attributions shall include but are not limited to :
Exchange of information and best practices;
Upon the proposal of the Administrative Council or the Conflict Resolution Committee admit, suspend or expulse any member of the Legal Aid Forum;
Dismissal of the Administrative Council members and Internal Audit Committee members;
Acceptance of grants, donations and legacies;
Authorization of the alienation of assets of the Legal Aid Forum;
Creation of specialized ad hoc committees if necessary;
Provision of mandates of representation where necessary to the Administrative Council and its members;
Review of the operation of the Legal Aid Forum, amendment, if necessary, to the Statutes of the Legal Aid Forum;
Adoption and amendment, if necessary, to the internal regulations of the Legal Aid Forum;
Proposals for the agenda of the next meeting.
In addition to the above functions and duties, the first General Assembly meeting of the year to be held in the first three months of the calendar year has also for specific responsibilities to:
Approve the narrative and financial report;
Approve the action plan and budget for the year;
Elect Internal Audit Committee members;
Every two years elect the Administrative Council Members and appoint legal representatives of the Legal Aid Forum;
Every three years, elect the Conflict resolution committee members of the Legal Aid Forum.
The General Assembly may also meet in extraordinary session when it is necessary. It is now formed by 38 members.
